The Hurricane Irene Project

Critical Thinking:

1. What time of the year does hurricane occur? Why do they only happen during that time?

Hurricane occurs in summer and autumn. Hurricane season is from June 1st to November 30th. Because temperature in summer is high and weather is hot. The ocean's temperature is warm, a strong wind that hits the ocean.


2. How can the timing of the tides (high or low) effect the devastation of a hurricane?

Tides appear by wind in oceans and high tides can increase the power of hurricane. Evaporation from the seawater increase the power of a hurricane. The low tides will effect a hurricane but not too dangerous when compare with high tides.
3. If in area is fully saturated, will a hurricane have more or less impact on an area?

Hurricane will have more impact on an area. The center of hurricane that has more power called eye of hurricane. In fully saturated area will blow strong wind that destroys everything in this area, which means will have more impact on an area.

                                                       

4. How does groundwater saturation affect rivers and streams?

Groundwater saturation affects rivers and streams. Water is going to underground but underground has enough water. Water is not going to underground but will be on ground. Groundwater saturation affect by increase the level in rivers when a lot of rain or water on ground.

Reflection

1. What is something that you like about this Mini-Project?  

I liked way to learn about Hurricane and affect on tides and rivers.   
             

2. What was difficult for you on this project?

Finding the necessary information or answers to the questions. Although we have already considered these issues in class, to answer some of questions was difficult part of project.

3. What would you change about your work on this project?

I would change my information give some definition to vocabulary word.

4. How did this project help you learn about Hurricane Irene?

This project helps me understand some occurs of Hurricane. I learnt new things that I don’t know before.
